St.Isaac’s [Cathedral] in Snowstorm

In this series of lithographs Dobuzhinsky shows the not-recognized beauty of St. Petersburg, an "inside" of the city - alleys, courtyards and such. He often portrays unprepossessing booths, construction sites, ramshackle barracks against the backdrop of grandiose architecture, achieving amazing artistic effect. Such dramatic contrast creates a special atmosphere of the city; it does not show the familiar ceremonial St. Petersburg but rather a spontaneous and versatile city.В этой серии литографий Добужинский показывает не общепризнанные красоты Петербурга, а «изнанку» — закоулки, дворы.
