In 1928 Kravchenko receives a commission from the People's Commissariat of Public Health for the series of ten engravings called The Life of a Woman in Past and Present. The meaning of the series was to show the difference between the hard life of women from different social strata in pre-revolutionary Russia, and much easier and enjoyable life after the revolution.
