In the Christian tradition Archangel Michael is "captain of the host of the Lord" (Joshua 5:13-15), he is attributed the main role in the battle between good and evil and the victory over the Devil. In addition, he is the judge at the Last Judgment, to which we all will be called by The Trumpet Call. That’s why Archangel Michael is shown here blowing a trumpet. He seems to fly over the Hellfire on his horse. He is holding the Holy Book and the scales in his hands, on which human souls will be weighed at the Last Judgment.
