Illustrations for the lithographic book of Alexey Kruchenykh Pustynniki.Pustynnitsa [„Hermits. Hermitess“] are variations on a given subject. They are not tied to the text and don’t retell it by means of drawings, yet they freely reveal, complement and extend its point contradicting each other at times. Fourteen illustrations were created for seven pages of poems. Burlesque nature of the poem is embodied in the grotesque, acutely expressive images of the artist, who in this case is not just an illustrator, but a competent co-poet.
